My Story

This is Tormund, a 7ish year old, 100 pound Tibetan mastiff mix. Tormund came to us after he had been bitten by a rattlesnake, but unfortunately, we didn’t get him until four days after the bite and he was barely clinging to life. He spent a week in ICU, but he is now healed. I can say that his size was critical in surviving the bite because a smaller dog would have likely died. This means that if you live in snake country, you should go ahead and have that extra cookie because any weight you gain is just added security in the event of a bite. ?

Tormund is good with all people and he loves everyone. He is good with dogs although he is still sensitve on the back end where he was bitten and does not appreciate being jumped on much. The vet thinks that the bite area in his back leg/butt may have caused some permanent nerve damage and he may always be sensitive in the rear end. For this reason, we think kids over 8 would be best. He is cat inquisitive, and Karl gives him a zero star rating as he doesn’t trust him so we think no cat homes are probably best.

This dog is not trustworthy off leash and a home with a fenced yard is a must. Given the level of fur on this dog, it should be self-evident that this dog is not low maintenance on the grooming side of things. He is very playful and loves toys and balls and any home he goes to must be prepared to lay in a supply of Tormund-approved toys. This dog will make a fantastic pet for the right home.
