Oreo
My Story
Meet Oreo, the sensitive soul who simply wants to make you happy!
Every morning, Oreo will greet you with a bright smile and a wiggly butt. This loving boy needs time to decompress in a new home and will benefit from patience and understanding while he settles in. He takes a few days or more to fully relax, so it’s best to take things slow. Once Oreo trusts you and realizes that good things come from you, he will eagerly do anything you ask. He thrives on reassurance and will blossom with confident training. In the 3 months with his foster, Oreo has blossomed into a confident dog who is comfortable with life. he will do well in any home that will allow him decompression time.
Oreo prefers to stick close to his people and finds new faces a bit intimidating, so he may need slow introductions to the same person several times. He would thrive in a calm home where he can feel safe and secure. He would love to have someone who will dedicate time to daily exercise and show him the joys of life.
This obedient and highly trainable pup is fantastic in his crate at night—just give him a Kong, and he’ll settle down quietly. Oreo walks wonderfully on a leash and will supervise the kitchen from his “place” command while you cook, only to help you clean the floor when released. He’s unfazed by the vacuum and quickly learned commands like sit and wait before opening doors, getting in the car, and being fed meals. Oreo is athletic and spring-loaded, making him a great candidate for agility training. He loves being your shadow and will always be by your side, even when you’re in the bathroom! He’s an expert bug catcher, and his expressive ears speak their own language. Snuggling on the couch is one of his favorite activities.
Though Oreo can get a bit too excited sometimes and needs to have his zoomies, he calms down when asked. Just watch and laugh as he zooms around, but stay out of his way! Due to his excitement, caution is recommended around small kids and pets, like cats. He has been cat-tested and approved with familiar, dog-savvy cats, but supervision is recommended initially. He is also good with dogs with proper and slow intros. Oreo enjoys staying busy with Kongs, licky mats, and snuffle/puzzle mats. He loves ripping apart stuffies but is also content to nap on the couch or at your feet for part of the day.
With a big heart, patience, and confidence, you can help Oreo flourish. He’s sure to steal your heart and bring laughter to your days.
