Montana
My Story
This beautiful creature is Montana. Montana came from a very large hoarding case in FL. She was originally estimated to be 7 years old at intake, but now we are thinking she is more likely around 5 years old. She is currently about 65 pounds.
Montana is going to take an owner who is willing to work for her affection. Montana doesn’t give it up on the first date and she’s going to limit you to some slow tail wags at first, and it will probably take a few weeks before she decides that you’re maybe the love she’s been missing. She has been in her foster home for 2 months and is a fully integrated member of the family now. But, new people and places are still scary, so we are looking for someone willing to give her the time she will need to adjust. Once she does, she is one of the sweetest, most well behaved dogs we have come across.
She is a quiet observer and prefers a calm household. Little kids terrify her. She LOVES being in the company of other dogs, and having a pack helps her to adjust and feel safe. She loves playing chase and running zoomies around her fenced yard with the other dogs. She also enjoys going for walks. She’s fine with cats, and probably with most other animals as well. She is house-broken and crate-trained and trustworthy when left loose in the home. She LOVES treats and they are the way to her heart. A harsh word will crush her, but she absolutely shines when given praise and positive reinforcement. She is steady, and mellow, and loyal. Her foster family, trainer, and groomer are all in love with her and the kneecap rule will be in full effect. I have every confidence she will make someone with patience the perfect companion.
