My Story

Lynyrd is the squishiest, kissiest, sweetest boy you’ll ever want to meet. Lynyrd is about 2 years old and weighs a skosh over 100 lbs. We tested his DNA, and he is 89.1% Great Pyrenees and 10.9% Labrador. We don’t know how he got to the KY shelter where we found him, but their loss is our gain. With some training, Lynyrd promises to be a very good boy for life.

Lynyrd can be a bit dog-selective with other male dogs, but when he is good, he is very good with them. He is a bouncy, trouncy, flouncy, pouncy, fun, fun, fun, fun, fun Tigger of a dog, so be sure yours will appreciate a playmate that wants to play endless hours – or in the absence of other dogs, you have enough energy to keep up with him. He is great on a leash and crate and house-trained, too! He is not good with cats or other small critters so I would recommend a house without them. Also, kids in the teen years and over would be best as he is guaranteed to push over younger kids and smother them with kisses. Lynyrd will require a fenced yard, someone home more often than not, and someone who is willing to continue the training of an overgrown 100+ lb. puppy.

As with all Livestock Guardian Dogs, he will bark to warn you of the pecky neighbors next door, squirrels farting 3 miles away, and wildlife flying overhead. Every. Single. One of them. He requires someone with Livestock Guardian Dog experience, too.
