My Story

Livvy is a 13 week old German shorthaired pointer mix. She came to us as an orphan with her siblings at 10 days old when her mother died. With the help of a very capable foster Mom, Livvy and her siblings are happy, well-adjusted puppies.

Let us discuss German shorthaired pointers. These are athletes. They were bred to help hunt and that instinct to chase prey is there and always will be. These are not lazy, couch-dwelling denizens. These are run until you drop dogs. If you are an active home who hikes/runs/swims/paddles, you will love this dog. If your idea of exercise is going to the mailbox, unless you have a fenced yard and a desire to throw balls or an equally active companion for this puppy, you are going to find yourself active in a way you may not have contemplated. These are flyball, agility and jump into the lake kind of dogs.

Livvy is only 1/2 German shorthaired pointer, so some of this will be tempered, but she is still an active puppy. Plan accordingly. She would be best in a home with a fenced yard and a dog companion that appreciates a boisterous puppy. She may be a bit much for cats and very small kids, but she is a lovely, happy family pet.
