My Story

Fiona is a 50 lb, 4-year old hound mix that survived a hoarding situation in AR with her five siblings. Arriving with mange, scabies, giardia and an old hip injury, she was the proverbial train wreck. Today she is a gorgeous, affectionate girl who LOVES her people and wants only a soft sofa and bed plus regular meals to be happy.

Her photo belongs on the First Ladies’ Wall at the West Wing with her proper demeanor. And don’t let her fool you; she might have a hitch in her giddy-up, but now that she has learned how to do stairs, she is a pro! She can jump up on that bed or sofa just fine, thank you…..and LOVES her twice a day walks. She is a bit too interested in critters on those walks, so a home without cats would be best.

Her activity level when she goes to work daily with her foster mom is best described as between a paperweight and a sloth. While twice a day walks are required to keep her hip in shape, intense running would not be good for her. No avid joggers need apply for this gal, She is so awesome with slow moving, gentle children that even a 2-year old can “operate her” (take her for a walk.) Her preference is women, so her ideal home would definitely have a female and a doggy sibling. She gets lonely when her people leave her so the other dog is her comfort and security blanket. Being 100% house-trained makes her a great first time dog for any family. Once she knows you, she is affectionate, incredibly loyal and a terrific car companion!

Her one quirk is that she cannot be put in a crate, but the good news is, she is completely trustworthy and not at all destructive if left free to roam! She is just about perfect and will be THE best addition to a young family, a retiree, or anyone in between!
