My Story

Dixie is a 10-month-old Great Pyrenees mix currently weighing in at a hamster-ish 50 pounds and we don’t expect her to get much larger. Dixie is a very happy, playful, active and scheming dog. She has mastered sit already and she is working on the don’t surf the counters command which frankly is less interesting to her.

Dixie is generally good with other dogs, but they need to be respectful and not try to push her around. Despite her diminutive size, Dixie is no pushover and she is after all, a Great Pyrenees. She does love to play and she will cheerfully hang out. She is showing some diva signs, but so far, she has no agent to field her calls so all is well. Dixie is good with people of all ages (kids past the screaming years are preferred) and she is good with the cats, although she tried to get Nemo to play, and Nemo finally gave up and smacked her upside the head and she simply walked away.

Dixie is very devoted to her people and would prefer a home with people who are home more often than not. She is housebroken and well mannered aside from the occasional stolen snack and she is an outstanding pet. She is crate trained and walks well on a leash. A home with a fenced yard would be ideal and a mellow dog or cat to hang out with wouldn’t hurt.
