My Story

Handsome Brutus is ready to find his happily-ever-after. Two years old and 95 lbs, this Great Pyrenees-lab mix loves to take in the world around him. He can often be found looking out the window (ensuring that the neighborhood squirrels aren’t scheming to take over the world, I am sure) and loves to go for car rides. He is a sweet, loyal boy who also has a goofy side.

Brutus is looking for a quiet home without a lot of traffic. While he loves his people very much, he can be wary of strangers and it takes him a while to warm up to new people. He tends to take a little longer with men, although he does come around. If there are children present, teenaged and up would be best. Brutus loves other dogs, and would love to have a canine companion to romp and wrestle with. He’s been good with every dog he’s encountered, even when the others can be a bit prickly. Brutus has a checkered past with felines and while he has been fine with some, we’re going to play it safe and look for a cat-free home.

Brutus is both crate trained and house trained, and often chooses to lay in his crate for his mid-morning and afternoon siestas. Brutus is medium energy. While he doesn’t particularly care for running or biking, he does love to play with other dogs. He does well on leash, and enjoys going for leisurely walks. He can pull a little so given this and his size, he would benefit from a chest harness. Brutus’ temperament is more pyr than lab, so a home with prior Great Pyrenees/LGD experience is in order. He can be quite vocal as he alerts you if anything is awry, which is one of the reasons this breed isn’t suited for apartment or condo living (i.e. no shared walls). A fenced yard of his very own would be the cat’s pajamas for sweet Brutus.

Brutus is adoptable in the Mid-Atlantic/Southeast (AL, FL, GA, NC, SC, VA, WV). If you’re interested in adopting Brutus, please complete an adoption application at www.bigfluffydogs.com, and then email kim@bigfluffydogs.com. Thank you!
