My Story

Whenever we adopt out a dog, we do our best to thoroughly vet the applicants and ensure they all have the happiest rest of their lives. On rare occasion… things do not turn out that way. This is Owen’s story.

Owen is an 11 year old Great Pyrenees who was adopted out by us 6 years ago. We were recently contacted to take him back due to a “change in living situation”. What we received back was clearly a case of abuse and neglect – Owen was skin and bones, in horrible condition, and was barely alive.

Save the pitchforks- as Owen has made quite a turnaround since being back and is now ready for his FINAL forever home for his glory days, which he so deserves!

He is a very sweet dog to people and gets along with other dogs of all shapes and sizes. He does not wish to share his food with other dogs, which we fully respect considering his recent starvation. He’s put on 15lbs so far since being with us, and will look amazing with another 10-20. This is a slow journey to avoid GI upset.

He sleeps through the night, is housebroken, and is an easygoing dog who could thrive either with a physically fenced yard or dedicated leash walkers. He is not a night time barker, but does otherwise take his Pyr duties seriously and will boof to alert you of anything suspicious!

Because of his traumatic past, he would love a quiet home with no kids under teenage years and people who understand this dog is 11 years old and needs a gentle hand to love him for the remainder of his years. Read again.. he is 11. He has a cloudy eye (has had it all of these years and it doesn’t bother him) and some creaky joints that come with age. They all deserve this.. but especially Owen.

Located in Nashville, TN and can travel to any of our Petfinder locations for his perfect home
