My Story

Rascal is a 10 year old, 13-pound chiweenie/Jack Russell terrier mix. We took him and four of his friends in when their owner was placed into a memory care facility.

Rascal did not appreciate the change and growled at us on arrival. It’s hard to know whether he was always a grouchy chihuahua kind of guy or if this was caused by all the upheaval, but his foster Mom reports that he is happy and fine at home so we’re assuming the latter. Rascal needs a calm home that is kid free. Sudden jerky movements and screeching kind of freak him out. Also, cameras. He is pretty sure you’re trying to kill him when you point a camera at him.

This is a dog that needs stability and patience. His owner loved him, but his last year was kind of rough as his owner’s cognitive and physical abilities waned. He is fine with dogs that are mellow and older and with cats. What I’d like to see is a home where he can hang out with his person quietly on a sofa while he judges you as all chiweenies do for what you watch on late night television. He doesn’t need a lot of walks and he appreciates life as a homebody. He is not going to be the life of the party, but he will be your best snuggling friend. He will make a really nice tiny companion for the right home.
