My Story

Clyde is a 7 month old, 40 pound lab/hound mix puppy. He is happy, social and outgoing and he knows no strangers! He also currently has zero boundaries and can be a bit much for older dogs who do not have the energy to play ALL. THE. TIME. He is easily amused and will find something to carry or toss around… however, it is not always what you might choose, so he still needs close supervision. Clyde loves everyone and everything. He is still in the mouthy stage and we are working on that, so he needs kids old enough to defend against the puppy attack. He currently lives with two boys over eight who are very patient with him and are helping him learn the difference between how to play with people and how to play with other dogs. He does love other dogs and would be happiest with a playful companion, or two, or three. He is housebroken, but needs frequent potty breaks on a schedule, as he can get too busy playing and forget to ask to go out. He is crate trained, and although he is a bit anxious when first crated, he does settle down, especially with the help of some toys or treats to keep him occupied. He currently sleeps about 6 hours at night and is working on going longer! Exercise is your best friend with this puppy, as the more worn out he is, the happier and calmer he will be be. He is smart, eager to please, and food motivated, so training should be a breeze. He currently knows “sit”, “stay”, “down”, “come”, and “paw”. Clyde’s ideal home would be active, understand how a hound mind (and nose) work, would have playmates of the older child and/or doggy variety, and would be willing to patiently continue with his training.
