The answers you give on this application will help us find the best possible match between you and the dogs available through Big Fluffy Dog Rescue.

Our adoption fee is $500 for all dogs over the age of 6 months. Puppies under the age of 6 months have an adoption fee of $600. This amount includes $150 for transport and $50 – $100 for state-mandated inspection fees.

Our adoption fee covers all vetting costs which are getting higher every day. This includes: pull fees charged to Rescue by shelters and animal control facilities, spay/neuter costs, vaccines including bordetella (kennel cough), distemper/parvo/lepto, rabies, and canine influenza (where available and age appropriate), fecal and heartworm and tick-borne disease screening and treatment as needed, heartworm and flea preventative, microchip and registration, grooming and any other vet costs which may be incurred.  The total adoption fee includes our cost of $150 to the transport company and $50 – $100 (depending on location) to cover state and federally-mandated examinations. The remainder of the adoption fee is what the rescue actually receives to defray vetting costs and any other costs like boarding, grooming, collars, ID tags and so on. On average, we spend more than $643 per dog, and we make up the difference through fundraising.

If you have any questions about the care any dog you are interested in received, you need to ask. If your coordinator can’t tell you, he or she will refer you to someone who can. You can read up on what care we provide here:

It is important for you to talk to your coordinator about reasonable expectations for the dog. These are rescue dogs not Chia pets. They will have needs and issues just like humans do. We want our adopters to be prepared for the good and the bad of dog ownership. If it was all sunshine and roses, we wouldn’t exist.
