My Story

Gatsby is a one year old, 45 pound retriever aussie mix. He is a social, happy, intelligent dog who adores his people. He came to us from a quasi-hoarding case where he was one of many dogs living outside in less than stellar circumstances.

Gatsby has come to learn to love heat on demand, dog beds, snacks anytime and all the perks of being a well-loved dog. He is social and outgoing and loves his people. He is well-mannered in general, save for the occasional fit of aussie mouthiness when playing and he has mastered life inside.

As he has hit adulthood, Gatsby has decided that he wants to be lord and master of the universe. This is fine if the other dogs around him agree he can be lord and master. It is a problem if the other dog won’t agree. As a result, Gatsby will never be a dog park dog and while he is fine on leash around them on walking trials, etc, he will need a home with truly submissive dogs or no dogs. He is fine with cats and he is fine with kids over 10. Kids younger than 10 may end up being treated like terribly behaved sheep and moved to a location Gatsby finds more acceptable.

Gatsby will make someone an outstanding dog. He is a cuddler, he loves to nap with you and he won’t blink if you binge watch terrible Christmas romances. if you appreciate smart, affectionate dogs who are active without being spider monkey on crack level of active, this is your dog.
