My Story

Matilda is a 6-7 year old, 50 pound, Shepherd mix who came to us as part of a large hoarding case. She spent the majority of her life as an outdoor dog with very little human interaction, but after the last few months in an amazing foster home she has made great progress learning how to “dog.

While Matilda will never be the life of the party, she enjoys hanging out with her family on her dog bed or in her crate… which she considers her safe space. She spends her days in her foster Dad’s home office sleeping next to his chair or relaxing on the back deck overseeing the yard work. She has zero interest in participating in said yard work, but then again, neither do I. Her thing would be to curl up for a Netflix binge, most likely with popcorn. No butter because she’s not a svelte gal.

She has learned that people are great providers of snacks and gentle petting. She needs a quite household off the beaten path because commotion and loud noises still scare her. For MAJOR bonuses, she walks nicely on leash and is both housebroken AND crate trained. She enjoys having another calm dog in the house to help boost her confidence and show her the ropes. Her wish list does not include a wrestlemania dog sibling.

She would be fine with older kids who will let her approach them on her terms, but younger kids will be too much for her. She is currently in NJ, but can travel for the perfect home.
