My Story

Everly is a nine year old border collie Newf something else mix that was returned to us after having been adopted four years ago. Everly has had a rough couple of years.

His owner died and he was moved to another family member who then also died. He ended up in a home with kids which was a big fat no for him. Everly is basically Clint Eastwood in Gran Torino. He wants everyone to get off his lawn. He is not a fan of kids, dogs or cats. He just wants to hang out in his own home without having to deal with interlopers. Is that too much to ask?

Everly is a solid 10 pounds overweight at 85 pounds. He needs a home with mellow adults who do not have kids coming and going, a fenced yard and someone who will resist sad brown eyes that want snacks. He does not appreciate walks and he would prefer to amble in the yard and come in and crash in front of the television. In essence, Everly is a cranky old man who is unmasked as the Scooby Doo villain by the meddling kids.

We are not going to make him like kids and dogs and cats anymore than you will be able to make me like okra or the novels of Susan Sontag. It’s not happening. What Everly needs is a retirement home with a cantankerous hermit for an owner who has no plans to have kids or to associate with them and who wants a dog and nothing more. If you have ever slammed the door in the face of a child selling candy bars, this could be your dog. Not that I recommend doing that, but you’d be doing what Everly wishes he could.

This dog is a good dog for the right home. Interested adopters should email kim.tompkins@bigfluffydogs.com.
