My Story

Columbia is one off our favorites here at Big Fluffy Dog Rescue, and she has a more unique story than most. She was actually found on the side of a road in KY by one of our volunteer drivers. She was on the brink of dying from starvation. And yet, she was still the sweetest, happiest, most trusting girl. She has been with us for the past 6 months, getting healthy, regaining her strength, and packing on the pounds to get back her girlish figure! She is now ready to find her forever home, so here is what potential adopters should know about her:

– She is estimated to be about 3 years old and is now up to 90 pounds (and may gain a few more).
– She needs proper introductions to new dogs and then gets along with them just fine! She has been living in a foster home with several other dogs, and a cat. Hysterically, she is scared of the cat.
– She has also been living with two kids and adores them, so a family with kids over 6 years old would be ideal. An active household doesn’t phase her one bit.
– She is smart, and food motivated, so she is learning new tricks all the time! Watch the video to see her learning “sit” and “up”.
– She does not like being confined to small spaces, so no crates for this girl. Luckily, she is completely housebroken and well-mannered in the home, so she does just fine left in her very own room (read: laundry room), and shows every indication that she would be trustworthy loose in the house eventually.
– She seems to have a shoe fetish. She doesn’t harm them, just collects them and piles them to admire.
– She has the sweetest disposition and a soul so bright it shines through her golden eyes.
– She is a very laid back, go with the flow type girl. She’s down for road trips, spontaneous adventures, canoe trips… you name it and she is happy to be along for the ride.
