My Story

Callum is a 3 month old Anatolian shepherd/lab mix. This is a large dog in the making. At the moment, Callum is an adorable puppy. He will grow up and become an adult dog and knowing what the breed does is the key to happiness.

Callum’s Mom was an Anatolian shepherd. She was bred to guard livestock in the field. Livestock dogs protect things by working together to analyze threats and get their charges away from the threats. They are not attack dogs. What they are is smart and scheming and they have 3000 years of breeding to make them independent thinkers. Essentially, they know what you said and they don’t care. It’s exactly like being married. This breed is thoughtful, intelligent and you can easily bruise their feelings by calling them a B-A-D D-O-G. Callum also likely has a lab dad. This means he was bred to retrieve stuff.

With Callum, you will get a little bit of both and it’s a good combo. Understand that the odds of this dog being a good off leash dog are low and a fenced yard will be required. This dog will make someone a fantastic pet.
