Meet Mervin, a four-year-old hound–Great Pyrenees mix whose story starts in the middle of nowhere – quite literally. He was abandoned along with fourteen other dogs and left to fend for himself, which explains why he’s a little shy about trusting people right away.
Mervin is a gentle, cautious soul who isn’t looking for adventure or excitement; he’s looking for peace and safety. Once he knows you’re kind, he’ll quietly lean into your presence and let you see the sweet, steady dog beneath the worry. He gets along fine with dogs who don't want to pounce on him, ignores cats, and generally keeps to himself. He’s the canine version of “just here to mind my own business.”
He needs a fenced yard to keep him safe and a calm, patient home where people are around more often than not. Mervin isn’t out to win any popularity contests or chase the spotlight - he just wants a soft place to land and people who understand that sometimes the quiet ones are the best company.
