Meet Sprinkles, the dog who believes sleep is for quitters. At 2 years old, she has never once run out of energy, and she sees no reason to start now. She is one of our long-term project dogs who was the very definition of a train-wreck dog. She has come a very long way.
Sprinkles came to us as an emaciated shell at just 32 pounds and heartworm positive with a shattered back leg. She was initially alleged to be an Anatolian Shepherd, but at knee high, no, she's not. Probably lab/beagle something. Fast forward to today: she’s healthy, heartworm-free, and rocking a solid 55 pounds of happy-dog chunk. minus a back leg. Basically, she went from “starving artist” to “well-fed socialite” and now needs a diet.
She’s great with people of all ages, adores other dogs, and even loves cats, although someone should probably tell her that she could flatten a Yorkie or cat without meaning to. Personal space is not her strong suit and when it comes to cat play time, no only means no when the claws come out, at which point she gets very respectful of cat space.
She’s housebroken, super friendly, and ready for an active family with a dog friend to hang out with. A fenced yard is an excellent idea for her as she has no concept of property lines and will walk into a car given a chance. See, exhibit A, her missing back leg. This is a perfect family pet for most anyone.
