Leader is a 4-year-old, 85-pound Great Pyrenees who missed the memo about being a livestock guardian because he’s far more interested in being your full-time golden retriever impersonator. He is all about the people and I don't think he has any interest in being in a field, unless it's in a field of people. He does have the unusual distinction of having managed to rescue a dog all by himself as he was slated to be turned in to us and showed up with another dog who turned out to be microchipped and had been missing for two years. That is how he got the name.
Leader is as easy going as they come. He loves all people, greets visitors with quiet dignity, and leans in for affection like it’s his job. He’s politely indifferent to other dogs and is fine with cats. He’s the Switzerland of the animal world - neutral, calm, and unbothered.
He’s gentle, well-mannered, and happiest when he’s near his people, whether that’s napping by your chair or watching the world from the back porch. A fenced yard is required for his occasional bursts of “I might patrol now” energy, but otherwise he’s content to just exist in a state of relaxed contentment. He will make someone a fantastic pet.
